Guess what?! I have a website now!
I've started offering classes in my personal studio (on Greer, in Homer, Alaska, USA). I had a blast teaching classes at Homer Art & Frame this summer and I need some of that energy in my own space!
My studio is chock full of amazing supplies and books that I would love to share.
We'll start off with "Winter Gift Making," short workshops for finished, giftable arts and crafts.

Our pool of hand-cut linoleum stamps has expanded. Come explore color combinations, and create your own stamps.

Week 4, Found Color
Regardless of the weather, we are surrounded by an explosion of color this time of year! We took a chance on outdoor artmaking this week. We enjoyed beautiful sunshine on Wednesday, even running into a couple friends who were totally game to join the fun!
Friday was drizzly, but our spirits were not dampened. It always feels great to take the initiative and get outside, or make art, and we did both!
Great time with friends, and trying techniques out of our normal routine.

Next week we'll explore color schemes with printmaking. joinME!

Week 3, Color in Context
Applique was the perfect medium to explore how colors work together. It's such a dynamic way to test color combinations and observe color interactions.
It was a blast turning our stash of hand-dyed fabrics into Art!!

This was the third of six sessions, meeting Wednesday 3:30-6 and Friday 10-2, at Homer Art & Frame. All sessions are drop-in, $25 including supplies. joinME!

This week we'll meet up at Homer Art & Frame then head out on a field trip! Rain or shine, we'll just adapt (many great colors can be found in shops)--but bring layers.
I'll have plein air supplies in several mediums, and/or we can refine our photography technique. If you already have a nature journal or sketchbook, that could be a great addition this week.

Week two of joinME: COLOR!
We explored color selection. In a palette color exercise, we created beautiful chevron color mixing charts to test a variety of red-yellow-blue paint combinations.
We weren't ready to move on from fabric dyeing this week, so we continued in this fun medium to explore placing colors together. At Art Study Hall, we expanded our technique with some starch-based thickeners and resists, adding texture to our designs.
I'm inspired by the how much beautiful fabric we created this week!

joinME at an upcoming session! We meet twice weekly through 9/30/2022 at Homer Art & Frame.
We had so much fun color play our first week (8/24, 8/28). After exploring how the three dimensions of color (hue, value, saturation) are interpreted in a two dimensional color wheel, we applied theory to reality using Procion MX fiber-reactive dyes on cotton, silk and wool.

Let's explore color in context! We'll dip into the new fabrics we've made over the last two weeks, plus other fabric and paper from Meriam's stash to explore how placing colors next to each other can change their appearance.

Dive into Meriam's stash of watercolors and acrylics to fine-tune your core palette colors, or to dabble in some new combinations. Let's see how our starting paints affect our final painting.
