We were proud to host a press conference today in our Divine Theater at the request of Holyoke Mayor Joshua Garcia, focused on the ongoing public conversation around housing in our city.
Community members with differing perspectives also gathered peacefully outside to make their voices heard.
We’re honored to serve as a community hub where civic life can unfold in real time. Our students were able to witness firsthand what it looks like when people care deeply about their city and show up to speak, listen, and advocate for what they believe is right.
This is real-world learning. Democracy is not abstract — it happens in rooms like ours, and on sidewalks like ours, every day.
Thank you to all who participated in today’s dialogue about the future of Holyoke.

Dear Friends! A simple, powerful request on this last day of 2025: Buy a kid lunch. Please take a look: https://www.lighthouseholyoke.org/lunch/

In a moment of increasing food insecurity we are all the more grateful for our Chef Blue and our incredible lunch program, creating and providing fresh, truly delicious lunch every day, with extra to send home. One of the most important things we're able to do here in our new facility.

It's that time of year when we regather and renew our commitments on how to be in a learning community together. This is what school can look like. How are we going to create a more just future if we don't teach it in school?

Oh look! That's 3 new classrooms and and office's worth of drywall coming through the window. (thank you neighbor David Scher for the photo!)
