Celebrate Juneteenth at Wistariahurst ๐Ÿ–คโค๏ธ๐Ÿ’š

On Friday, June 19th, Wistariahurst (Wistariahurst Museum) and Genuine Culture (Damany_G) welcome you to the Wistariahurst gardens for our annual Celebrate Juneteenth event โ€” a day of community, joy, and honoring freedom on the countryโ€™s second independence day.

For the 4th year running, Wistariahurst (Wistariahurst Museum) and Genuine Culture (Damany_G) are teaming up to bring this celebration back for Holyoke and beyond. ๐ŸŒณ

Hereโ€™s whatโ€™s waiting for you on the grounds:
๐ŸŽจ Hands-on art projects + games in the gardens
๐ŸŽถ Live performances and music
๐Ÿฝ๏ธ Local food vendors
๐Ÿ›๏ธ Black-owned businesses, makers & artists selling locally made goods
๐Ÿ“‹ Community organizations sharing their work

Thereโ€™s something for every age. Juneteenth reminds us of the resilience of Black lives โ€” the challenges and victories of formerly enslaved people striving for unity, education, and political engagement during Reconstruction.

โš ๏ธโ˜€๏ธ Due to the Heat Advisory in effect for tomorrow, the decision was made to postpone the opening night of the Night Market to NEXT FRIDAY JUNE 19.

While weโ€™re disappointed to wait one more week, the safety and comfort of our vendors, staff, performers, and all of our guests comes first. โ€ผ๏ธ

โœจ Good news:
โ€ข The Holyoke Night Market will still run EVERY Friday all summer long. (Except July 3 and 21)

โ€ข New market hours will be 6PMโ€“11PM.

โ€ข Weโ€™ll kick off the season next Friday at the Armour Yard and canโ€™t wait to celebrate with you and see all of your faces! โ˜บ๏ธ๐Ÿ’›

Have you driven down Race Street lately? ๐Ÿ‘€ Thereโ€™s a mural turning heads at the De La Luz Soundstage โ€” painted by the crew at

But the art is just the start. De La Luz is downtown Holyokeโ€™s home for live music, theater, dance, cultural celebrations, and community gatherings. ๐ŸŽถ Two stages, a cafรฉ and dining room, a courtyard, studios โ€” plus the Technical Arts Institute, where young people from across the Valley train in live sound, lighting, stage management, and event production alongside working pros. ๐Ÿ’ก

Itโ€™s the former Gateway City Arts campus, reborn under LightWorks Collective and back in full swing since 2024.

Next time youโ€™re downtown, stop and see the mural in person โ€” then check their calendar and find a show. ๐ŸŽŸ๏ธ
