Per our usual schedule we put a new release into production today. Most notable will be the reduced analysis time, as we have brought faster computer systems on line. The time for a baseline analysis has been reduced from circa 10 minutes to 7 minutes. Similar reductions have been achieved for the analysis of advanced models. Will you use that to go home an hour earlier or run an extra optimization (or 2) to make a better restraints system? - crashulater.
Version 7.0 of VirtualCrash.com was released on schedule. This version utilizes our enhanced computational capacity to further detail the models. The seat cushions are using finite element techniques that make them more accurate under off-design conditions. The dummy models were refined and repositioned, in equilibrium with the cushion pressure and with the right foot on the accelerator pedal, conform certification test conditions.
The annual release of the VirtualCrash.com brings a new vehicle platform and a new crash dummy. A 2-seater sports coupe was added to the platforms. This platform shows uniquely different responses in rear impact. The bulkhead, behind the seats, limits the amount of back rest rotation for most occupants, while inhibiting it completely for taller occupants that have their seat in the rearmost track position. The new crash dummy is representative of an average female. With this addition we fullfil a long time wish of the product safety community to have women drivers better represented. Both new sports coupe platform and average female dummy model are only available to our advanced application users, as either one can be dangerous in the hands of the inexperienced. - Crashulater
