Marjorie Jean Montooth
Marjorie Jean Montooth, known to all who loved her as Jeanie, passed away on May 31, 2026, at her home in Grand Blanc, Michigan. She was 89 years old. Born on August 3, 1936, in Toledo, Ohio, Jeanie lived a life full of warmth, purpose, and an infectious sense of humor that could light up any room.
Jeanie attended Miami University, where she earned a degree in education. She began her career as a teacher before discovering another calling as a business owner. She founded Creative Fashions, a ladies clothing store in historic Holly, Michigan, and owned and operated it for more than 40 years. The shop became a beloved fixture in town, known for its fashionable offerings, exceptional customer service, and Jeanie's genuine community spirit. As a leading business owner, she was deeply involved in the Chamber of Commerce, the Downtown Development Association, Village of Holly Master Plan and numerous civic organizations that kept Holly thriving.
Perhaps her most lasting contribution to the community was co-founding the Annual Holly Dickens Festival alongside fellow business owners. Now celebrating its 53rd year, the festival holds the distinction of being the longest continuously running event of its kind in the United States, a legacy that speaks to the vision and dedication Jeanie brought to everything she touched.
Beyond business, Jeanie was a woman of wide-ranging passions. She loved to travel, read, and garden. She collected art, antiques, and butterflies. She was a devoted supporter of arts and culture in the Flint area, with a particular love for ice skating and the symphony. Above all, she treasured time spent with family and friends. A gracious person with a huge heart, Jeanie was always quick to smile and always ready with a good laugh. She took special pride in her many grandchildren, who brought her tremendous joy.
Jeanie was preceded in death by her husband, John Montooth, and her daughter, Barb McCallahan. She is survived by her sons, William Montooth and John Montooth; her daughter, Alexandra Montooth; and her beloved grandchildren.
May she rest in the peace she so generously shared with others.
A Celebration of Life will be held on June 4, 2026,
at the Holly Vault from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jeanie's honor to one of the following 501c3 groups. The Holly Dickens Festival, 118 S. Saginaw St., Holly, MI 48442, or toward the restoration of the Holly Union Train Depot c/o Main Street Holly, 505 1/2 E Maple St., Holly, MI 48442 (please write "DEPOT" on the memo line).

Please plan to attend to celebrate a life well lived.
