CRITICAL! Support this bill THIS WEEK with email testimony!
Call for Testimony: Support Right to Read Legislation! 📚
Join the Mass Reads Coalition on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at 11:00 AM, for a legislative hearing at the Massachusetts State House to support important "Right to Read" legislation. This bill aims to ensure that all K-3 students receive evidence-based literacy curriculum and instruction — a critical step toward closing the literacy gap and promoting equitable education for every child.
We invite educators, parents, and advocates to share their voices in support of this vital legislation. All testimony can be submitted via email to [email protected] by September 5, 2025.
Your story and support can make a difference in ensuring our children have the tools they need to succeed. Together, we can promote literacy for all!

Stunned and happy to receive this honor!
🎉 Congratulations to Richard McManus! 🎉
We are honored to announce that Richard McManus is the 2025 recipient of the Ogden R. Lindsley Award, presented by the Standard Celeration Society!
Richard’s pioneering work in behavior analysis has transformed lives for decades. He began his career at The Fernald State School, training direct care staff to shape positive behaviors in blind and blind-deaf individuals with a history of extreme aggression. His innovative approach replaced self-injurious behaviors with exercise and vocational skills, setting the stage for a lifetime of groundbreaking contributions.
From directing an early school for autistic individuals to integrating Precision Teaching into educational and vocational programs, Richard’s impact has been profound. His work has shaped free operant educational and behavior change programs at every level, and his expertise has been sought after by major organizations like NPR, United Airlines, and Reebok.
For over two decades, Richard has led the Fluency Factory, empowering students from preschool to pre-college with individualized learning strategies, addressing challenges like dyslexia and standardized test preparation. His passion for solving reading issues at every level continues to drive meaningful change in education.
Join us in celebrating Richard McManus and his incredible contributions! 🎉👏

The very truth!
L❤️VE this imaginary letter written by the awesome Professor Snow and taken from her blog post in which she asks:
“I wonder whether balanced literacy proponents would be comfortable going into a class full of fresh-faced 5-year-olds, randomly selecting 10-20% (at least) and sending a note home as follows:
Dear parents
We use an approach to reading instruction that only works for some students. We’re sorry to inform you that your son or daughter won’t become a proficient reader. We imagine this is going to cause you and them considerable grief and will cast a long, dark shadow over their futures – academically, vocationally and for their mental health. We don’t intend to do much of any substance about this, but now you’re aware of it, it’s basically your responsibility.“
