This Election did not end the way we hoped but I am proud of the work we accomplished. I learned what it meant to be a part of the Hillside community as a neighbor and leader. The connections and memories will last a lifetime. I thank everyone for giving the new kid on the block a chance to represent you.
I look forward to the next chapter of my life. This won’t be the last you see of me. But for now if you see me around town with my wife and dogs, make sure you say hi! Proud to live in Hillside and be a part of our close knit community. Thank you to for tapping me in and having confidence in me to be Hillsides councilman.

Your Councilman

Hillside friends and family, this is what being a Councilman in Hillside means to me. I hope to continue being the voice and advocate our Township deserves. I humbly ask for your support and Vote on December 2nd.

Being your Councilman for the past four years has been one of the greatest honors of my life. When my wife and I moved to Hillside six years ago, I just wanted to make a difference and give back to the place we proudly call home. Politics isn’t always easy, but serving people, listening, and working to solve real issues will always be my purpose.
I’ve always loved helping people, and I’m truly grateful to have been entrusted to represent you. I know everyone has their own opinions when it comes to local government, and that’s okay. I just want you to know this...I’m always here for you. I’ll continue to answer the tough questions, listen to your concerns, and remain accessible to every resident who calls Hillside home.
On December 2nd, I humbly ask for your support and your VOTE so together, we can continue Building a Better Hillside.

Social media family, I want to take a moment to thank everyone for your incredible support. 🙏🏽
Election day is over, and I thank our Hillside Residents for their support and votes!
We came close...but since no candidate received more than 50%, we’re heading into a runoff election! 🗳️
This is our final chance to keep Building a Better Hillside. It is not just a campaign motto but a mission we set out 4 years ago that is finally coming into fruition!
Today we received good news and I am proud to share that Mayor Dahlia Vertreese and the Building a Better Hillside Team received an endorsement from our New Jersey Senator, Andy Kim! I first met Senator Kim 5 years ago at an event for Millennials in Politics and his passion and courage to stand up for New Jersey is unmatched and exactly who we need in office today!
Now, we need your help to finish strong Hillside.
✅ Vote Column 1 for Mayor Dahlia Vertreese, Robert Rios, Josie Payoute and Sonya McBurrows.
Let’s stay united and focused to continue the work that’s moving Hillside forward.

Hillside Celebrates Veterans Day 🎖️
Today, we came together as a community to honor the brave men and women who have served our country with courage, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication. Under the leadership of Mayor Dahlia Vertreese, whose father served in the U.S. Military and our Township Administration, Hillside held a beautiful ceremony recognizing the Veterans of Hillside and the United States Armed Forces.
We were deeply moved by the words of CPL Shawn Samuels, a proud U.S. Army Veteran and respected Masonic leader, who reminded us of the strength and resilience that defines our nation’s heroes. The ceremony was made even more special by a powerful performance from Queenella Gibson.
To our Hillside veterans, I would like to say thank you. Your service and sacrifice are the foundation of our freedom and the heartbeat of our community. Hillside stands united in appreciation and respect for everything you have done, and continue to do, for our great nation.
Let us carry this spirit of gratitude beyond today, by supporting our veterans, uplifting their families, and living each day with the same courage and commitment they’ve shown us.
With gratitude,
Councilman Robert Rios

So thankful to our for getting on scene quickly to help contain the fire from spreading during its peak.
Our OEM Director Dawkins handled the scene with purpose and care. To the Mayor and administration that showed up on scene and to all our Mutual Aid Partners from Union, Springfield, Newark, Elizabeth and many more…I thank you all.
