Playing a musical instrument is one of the most complex tasks the human brain can perform.

Brain imaging studies show that making music activates multiple regions simultaneously, including areas responsible for movement, hearing, memory, emotion, and executive function.

Because both hemispheres of the brain are engaged at the same time, musicians often show stronger communication between brain regions.

Research has also found that musical training strengthens neuroplasticity, the brain’s ability to reorganize and form new neural pathways. This process improves cognitive flexibility, attention control, and memory performance.

Studies using MRI scans have even shown that musicians frequently have a larger corpus callosum, the structure that connects the left and right hemispheres of the brain, allowing faster information exchange between them.

In simple terms: when you practice music, you are not just learning notes. You are rewiring your brain.

We had 20 performers at the recital last night. 11 couldn’t make it due to the holiday weekend, but the recital was still 2 hours long! So proud of my wonderful students!! If anyone has more photos, please share them with me.
