As Source Water Protection Week comes to a close, remember that protecting our water is a year-round effort. Here are a few simple ways you can help protect our drinking water sources.

It's time to start winding down your outdoor watering! Outdoor water budgets end Oct. 15, just two weeks away. After Oct. 15, any outdoor water use that exceeds your budget will result in higher charges.

In the meantime, please continue following your designated two-day watering schedule under Stage 1 drought restrictions and reduce water use by 15–20%.

Fall is officially here! As we welcome cooler temperatures and shorter days, remember that outdoor water budgets end Oct. 15. This annual transition is part of our regular seasonal schedule. Any outdoor water use exceeding your budget after this date will result in higher charges.

Important update from the Douglas County Sheriff's Office: Stage 1 fire restrictions have been lifted in Douglas County. Please see additional information in the post below.

Effective Immediately: Stage 1 Fire Restrictions Lifted in Douglas County

After evaluating fire and fuel conditions, as well as current weather and forecasts, Sheriff Darren Weekly has decided to rescind Stage 1 Fire restrictions in unincorporated Douglas County, including the City of Castle Pines and the Town of Larkspur, effective immediately.

While restrictions are no longer in place, we remind all residents and visitors that fire safety is a year-round responsibility. Please continue to practice caution with outdoor fires, campfires, outdoor equipment, and disposal of smoking materials.

to 2021, when consecutive years of drought and low reservoir storage prompted our team to develop our first formal Drought Response Plan. The plan created a framework for responding to changing water supply conditions, from increased conservation efforts to watering restrictions, and other measures when needed.

Five years later, that plan is helping guide our response to the drought conditions we are experiencing today. It has once again provided a roadmap for making difficult decisions today while looking ahead to help protect stored water supplies for our community.
