Wildlife was front and center for our July member spotlight:
Mary Moore had two photos featured in the July 17th Estes Park News, including a spectacular image of a magnificent Bull Moose gracing the cover and a shot of an adorable Moose calf included in the wildlife photos section.
Jan Milanowski’s photo of a delightful Bluebird won Viewbug’s “Nature Uncovered” Award.
Congratulations to Mary and Jan for their fantastic photos!

I missed including this on the July/August photo ops list that was sent to membership yesterday. Sharing here since it’s an opportunity to see the Clydesdales close to home.

Next Thursday, July 23, the AB Clydesdales full hitch and wagon will be in Festus! At 6pm, the team will stop in front of City Hall for a Folds of Honor presentation. Afterwards, they will travel down Main Street stopping at various establishments to deliver a case of beer. The last delivery will be at Capt Z's on Bailey Road. Everyone is invited to line the route for this historic moment. We believe the last time the entire team was in Festus was 1955.

Education Topic: On and off camera flash; bring your camera, flash, and trigger. Debi will have triggers that will work with most cameras.
Homework to bring (on flash drive): A photo you have edited along with the pre-edited version of that photo (photos need to be jpegs—thank you for the clarification, David).

We are halfway through 2026 and JCPC members continue to have their photos in the public eye! Here is our June 2026 spotlight:
-Lorrie Potter won 1st Place which also included having the Grand Times cover shot in the Jefferson County Leader's annual "Picture Your Pet" photo contest.
-Karen Mathis and Carole Allen were both winners in the House Springs Lion's Club photo contest. The theme was "Nature". Karen won the People's Choice award and Carole won the Professional's Choice award.
-Scott Villmer's photo was awarded the Pause Award on Viewbug.
-Scott had two photos included in the Carpenter' Union magazine (his photos , which were taken on the Miss Augusta yacht for a retiree club cruise, were the group photo and the food photo; bottom right photo is of Scott and it was taken by the yacht captain).
-Scott's photos were also included in two issues of the Independent Journal.

This month's meeting will be a salon night. Bring one of your favorite photos for discussion/critique. You may want to bring a photo that you entered in a prior contest that was not a winner, as the discussion is intended to be a learning experience to see what others view as strengths and weaknesses in your photo.
Visitors are welcome to attend.

JCPC Member Spotlights for May 2026 include:
~CAROLE ALLEN and her photo of the Cedar Hill Mill were featured in Schillers Camera's website article "STL Through the Eye of Our Local Photographers".
~KAREN MATHIS' photo of an abandoned building in Mosca, Colorado was published in the May/June issue of Family RVing magazine.
~SCOTT VILLMER had a photo of a young fawn accepted in the Powder Valley Nature Conservation Nature Center's 2026 photo contest
~SCOTT VILLMER received a special "GOAT" award from the Old Mines Community in recognition of Scott's photography for the Old Mines Community Car Show which benefits the Make-a-Wish foundation and for his annual contribution of two metal prints to the event.
~SCOTT VILLMER again photographed the Old Mines Car Show as well as the 41st LaFete Au Renault Rendezvous in Old Mines. Scott's photos from these events, along with those of Kris Richards, were included in the Potosi Independent Journal.

The March wind blew a couple of our members under the spotlight!
A reception was held in Jefferson City for the winners of the 2025 DNR photo contest, which included David Bond’s 3rd Place photo in the Unique Places category. Representative Tony Harbison attended to congratulate the winners.
Scott Villmer had photos of the Winter Rendezvous in Old Mines published in the Independent Journal.
