Tuesday brought a sweet team green turned team pink baby! This first time mama worked hard to bring her baby here. She was straight OP up to the last moment when she rotated just seconds before coming out. But she achieved a vaginal birth! It was a blessing to be there to witness it!

Today’s birth was pure happiness!
This mama came to me wanting an unmedicated birth. But her baby had a different plan. Despite his mama trying all of the things, her baby remained breech.
And so he was born through a csection. Despite it not being her plan she was at peace with it. She gushed at how great her doc was. How nice all of the staff was. Considering her birth was not at all what was expected it still was good.
Proving that a good birth experience isn’t always about the outcome but how a woman is treated.

Oh my goodness! Today’s birth was just perfection! And proved why the right provider is KEY!
This mama came to me wanting to have her first baby unmedicated.
Her previous providers were suggesting interventions for a mild issue that wasn’t causing any issues. So she switched to one who wouldn’t require intervention.
And thank goodness she did because this provider also didn’t make a big deal about a mild hypertension diagnosis in the days leading up to labor.
Despite this diagnosis this mom was given options. She opted to wait for spontaneous labor.
Despite days of not consistent contractions this mama endured & achieved her unmedicated birth with absolutely no intervention! We met at the hospital just 2 hours after her water broke. And baby was born 4 hours later. All while this mama was so calm & collected.
There were so many things I loved about this birth. This mamas strength. Her ability to follow her intuition. And her provider’s trust in her. Providing options but ultimately allowing this mama to choose without fear, coercion, or guilt.

Simple things that could have simple solutions. Much of it is exercising time & patience over feeling the need to control & manage every aspect of a woman’s experience.
Women & babies deserve so much better than what our current system provides. And yet in 2026 we’ve slipped backwards on so many things.
I pray everyday to see improvements. And pray that somehow, in my little corner, I can help improve some things for the families I work with.

This first time mama was literally the epitome of patience & trusting in God’s timing. Her baby was born 15 days past their due date! She did it unmedicated despite: 💊being induced 👶her baby being on the larger side 🤦baby having a compound nuchal hand This mama was so calm throughout the entire process. Even smiling towards the end. I’m so proud of all the work she did to get her baby here safely!

Many times families are made to feel that their “alternative” choices go against science. That they are frivolous, rooted in selfish choices instead of legit science, & are backwards instead of progressive. But many of these “alternatives” are the OG ways to have babies. It’s good to remember we’ve had babies longer without medicine than we have with. So for those who are trying to keep their birth low to no intervention, it’s wise to know that there is science backing up your wants & needs! The entire process of birth is one big hormonal process. Hormones can’t always be controlled by people, medicine, & technology. No pill automatically makes you feel safe in an unsafe feeling environment. So much of this process is driven by environment, support, & connection. 🧠thinking positively, praying, reading scripture can all change your brain! 💡Environment is important! Flourescent lights have been proven to impede labor. And a calm space is shown to increase the flow of oxytocin. 🤵‍♂️The best outward source of oxytocin is a supportive & loving husband. Having people in your space that personally know you & are providing continuous support affect birth positively! Women feel more safe & calm, leading to free flowing oxytocin & endorphins. 💉It has been proven that for some women epidurals can slow down contractions. The sensations of labor guide women in doing what their baby needs them to do. 👶Why does labor start when it does? There’s research to say when the baby’s lungs are finished developing! And labor presents itself in a way that could be working best for mom & baby. When we alter just for the sake of speeding it up we could be causing stress to both. 🤱And there’s a lot of research showing skin to skin helps baby regulate on the outside! Babies are stressed when seperated from their mom because it’s a survival instinct! They tend to look better when kept with her. 🩸1/3 of baby’s blood volume remains in the placenta after birth. Ensuring your baby gets it all is scientifically proven.

I was blessed to work with this family for a second time. This pregnancy was filled with a lot of decisions & just stressful for mama. She knew induction was the right way to go for her baby & it very much worked in her favor. One cytotec & time with a cook’s catheter got her to baby! 45 minutes after I walked in the door! She relaxed in the tub & went from fine to pushing within minutes. And then baby came out in the sac! It was quite the miracle to witness! And am so glad this mama is in the other side of this & able to finally snuggle this super special baby on the outside!
