Did you know National Doughnut Day is celebrated every year on the first Friday in June and has a very meaningful history? ❤️

This day honors the Salvation Army “Donut Lassies,” the women who served doughnuts and home-cooked meals to soldiers during World War I to help boost morale and bring a little taste of home to the troops. 🇺🇸

Today, we celebrate both the sweet treat AND the kindness behind it!

What an amazing year it has been for our Murphy community! Because of the support of our families, teachers, staff, students, volunteers, and community members, Murphy PTO was able to accomplish so much this school year. 🎉

✨ Together, we raised $16,609 through our events and fundraisers!
✨ We then invested $14,322 right back into supporting our students, teachers, staff, and school community!

Thanks to your support, we were able to:
📚 Help provide transportation and support for field trips
📚 Purchase classroom resources and teaching materials
📚 Provide a translator for our English language learners
📚 Bring in special assembly guests, including an author visit and the Wild Bird Sanctuary
📚 Purchase new classroom tables and a group reading table
📚 Add books to classroom libraries
📚 Support student activities, staff appreciation events, and family events throughout the year

Every fundraiser, event attendance, volunteer hour, donation, and shared post helped make these things possible — and we are so thankful for this incredible community! 💙
