🚨Shelter information

𝐖𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐄𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 (Women Only), located on 903 W. English Rd., will offer 24-hour White Flag Shelter for women only beginning Friday, January 23 at 5:30pm. Due to life threatening temperatures and extended weather issues, our white flag shelter is not yet issuing an end date on 24/7 shelter nor asking participants to leave. Leslie’s House and the Winter Shelter are operating 24/7 but are full.

𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐏𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭

• •𝐎𝐚𝐤𝐰𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 (Women & Children), located on 2018 W. Green Dr., will open at tonight at 6pm until 8am on Saturday, January 24 for women and children only.

• •𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐧 𝐃𝐨𝐨𝐫 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 (Men Only), located at 400 N. Centennial St., will open tonight at 8pm tonight, January 23 and through the weekend and daily until capacity is full. Open Door Ministries will open for adult men only.

𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐨
• First Baptist Church, 1000 W. Friendly Ave., will provide 24-hour shelter starting tonight, Friday, January 23 at 7pm through 7am on Monday, January 26. The warming center at First Baptist Church will be open to single adults and families.

With the terribly cold weather, we wanted to be sure you’re aware. West End Ministries has three opportunities to house women and they are as follows:
🚨—Leslie’s House is our transitional home open 365, 24/7.
🚨—The Winter Shelter is an extension of Leslie’s House and is open November 30-March 31.
🚨—Women housed in Leslie’s House and the Winter Shelter do not have to leave but can participate in Life Skills classes, counseling or case management.
❄️—The Women’s White Flag Shelter is activated during times of dangerous weather such as winter nights when it’s 35 degrees or below. Due to space constraints, those women can be admitted at 5:30pm and leave at 8am. We work with the ladies to transport them to a warming center, if they are willing.

👉••Want to provide PRACTICAL NEEDS? Coffee, coffee creamer, paper towels and toilet paper are always in need. Currently, easy breakfast items like oatmeal or grit packets are helpful too. We accept deliveries to 903 W English Rd High Point, NC. If you prefer drop off, Community Center/Office Hours M-Th 9-5 and Friday 9-3. Leslie’s House can accept drop offs after hours or on the weekends, but be sure to identify donations to Winter Shelter.

Kicked off our first Saturday Community Cafe and we were blessed to have 55 join us! Blessed too with volunteers and food!

We’re thrilled to share that our volunteers and the wonderful High Point Public Library staff have arranged a 3rd Community Cafe! Thanking God for this opportunity!

A great warm up the past few days but it’s still winter—as of 6:30am, it’s in the 30s this morning. One of our longtime partners, will receive your gently-used or new Women’s HEAVY Winter Coats. While all sizes are needed, the emphasis is on heavy, a warm winter coat. Thank you.

Green Street Baptist Church has office hours M-Th 8:30-5, Fri closed. You’ll find someone in the church office at entrance A on the Phillips Avenue side of the church campus (just beyond the Rotary/Phillips intersection) during the above hours.

We have some amazing supporters! While many of them prefer anonymity, we wanted to send big thanks! One new business has come our way and we’d love to extend thanks to for providing coffee at our Tuesday Community Cafe with the 💚

Many of us are likely peeking through the blinds to check on the weather today while many of our friends are living outside in it or sleeping in cars. Join us in praying for them to safely find shelter and warmth; pray for the shelters to have room and provisions; pray for first responders & city/utility workers safety and helpful resource assistance; pray for not only our area but also for western NC, California and all those in need. Prayer is our greatest resource.

Merry Christmas from Acts Ministries! Our leader, Dan Hodgson, doesn’t prefer to be on camera but we wanted the opportunity to thank him for encouraging us towards Christ and his example of love and service. We’ll see you on Thursday at the cafe. Join us praying for our friends in the streets. 💚

It’s always a good month to be thankful and we are!! Thankful for volunteers, providers, partners, supporters and, today we’re grateful for for rejoining us and for partner donations of food, gloves and sleeping bags. We’re also thankful for the men and women, God created, who show up at the Community Cafe!
