Our Story

We are a 501(c)(4) Non-Profit Organization that is involved in many outreach programs in the Hickory area.

Our goal is to establish a partnership between our chapter and state, county, and local governments as well as other local non-profits to develop programs that assist local veterans in need.

Over the past year we have partnered with and/or donated to the following organizations to help support veteran-related projects:

Foothills Veterans Stand Down
An annual event in Hickory for area veterans in need of Medical Services, Dental Care, Food, Clothing, Education, Tax Assistance, Employment Counseling, Eye Care, Haircuts, Shoes, Community Resources, Outdoor Supplies, Pastoral Counseling, and Fellowship

Dental Program
Our 2017 annual fundraiser raised over $15,000 to help local veterans with unmet dental needs.

Walk With Me (Still Waters Farm)
Provides Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy (EFP) for individuals with a wide range of psychosocial issues and behavioral needs including Anxiety disorders, Psychotic disorders, Mood disorders, Behavioral difficulties, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity, Autism, PTSD, Depression, and Major life changes (divorce, grief, loss).

Foothills Veterans Helping Veterans
A non-profit group of veterans and friends of veterans that seeks to connect veterans to resources. No issue is too BIG or too small for them to help.

Camp Corral
Hickory DAV chapter 34 partners with Golden Corral each year to help raise funds to send children to Camp Corral. The mission of Camp Corral is to transform the lives of children of wounded, injured, ill, and fallen military heroes by providing a unique summer camp experience.

We also run a weekly Friday night bingo game to help raise funds for our projects.
