As a proud Westland Hialeah Senior High School graduate, it was especially meaningful to celebrate the Class of 2026 yesterday.

A little over a decade ago, I was sitting in those same seats wondering what the future would hold. Yesterday, I had the opportunity to stand on that stage and congratulate students who are now beginning a journey of their own.

To the Class of 2026: dream big, work hard, and never forget where you came from. The opportunities ahead of you are endless, and I have no doubt you will make Westland and our city proud.

Congratulations, Wildcats. Your next chapter starts now!! 🎓

Como orgulloso graduado de Westland Hialeah Senior High School, fue muy especial para mí celebrar ayer junto a la Clase del 2026.

Hace poco más de una década, yo estaba sentado en esas mismas sillas preguntándome qué me depararía el futuro. Ayer tuve la oportunidad de estar en ese escenario felicitando a estudiantes que ahora comienzan su propio camino.

A la Clase del 2026: sueñen en grande, trabajen duro y nunca olviden de dónde vienen. Las oportunidades que tienen por delante son infinitas, y no tengo duda de que harán sentir orgullosos a Westland y a nuestra ciudad.

Last week, we opened our meeting with department directors to the media, giving residents a direct look at the work being done across our city.

Public safety continues to improve, with more than half of Hialeah’s fire hydrants inspected and 95% of 911 calls answered in under 10 seconds.

We’re also upgrading streetlights citywide, installing 130 new LED lights every day, and McDonald’s Water Park is now open for the summer, with Bucky Dent Pool reopening soon.

La semana pasada abrimos nuestra reunión con los directores de departamento a los medios, brindando a los residentes una visión directa del trabajo que se está realizando en nuestra ciudad.

La seguridad pública continúa mejorando, con más de la mitad de los hidrantes inspeccionados y el 95% de las llamadas al 911 contestadas en menos de 10 segundos.

As a strong mayor, I believe leadership means being directly involved in city operations and working alongside department heads to keep government moving efficiently and transparently.

Today, every department head came together publicly to address the issues impacting our city, provide updates, and answer questions in front of the media and our residents.
