Congratulations to Police Communications Manager Misty Gammel on her retirement after serving the citizens of Hewitt for over 25 years! In addition to being an integral member of the PD team, Misty also served the community by instructing new cadets and dispatchers at MCC Law Enforcement Academy as well as instructing at McLennan County 9-1-1 Emergency Assistance District. She will be missed! At last night’s council meeting, Mayor Fortenberry read a proclamation honoring Misty for her years of service.

The City of Hewitt is looking for a dependable, detail-oriented professional to join the Hewitt Police Department as a Police Records Clerk!

💰 Pay: $23.88–$24.84 per hour
🕐 Full-Time: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
🏢 Onsite Position

As a Police Records Clerk, you’ll play an important role in supporting our officers, Police Department staff, and the public by ensuring police records are accurate, secure, organized, and properly maintained.

What You’ll Do:
🔹 Process, organize, and maintain police reports and records
🔹 Review documentation for accuracy and completeness
🔹 Enter and maintain information in records-management systems, CAD, Laserfiche, and other databases
🔹 Process police records requests and assist with releases, redactions, and applicable exemptions
🔹 Apply requirements related to the Texas Public Information Act and records retention
🔹 Research laws, regulations, retention schedules, and applicable legal decisions
🔹 Monitor deadlines and ensure assignments are completed accurately and on time
🔹 Provide professional and courteous service to employees, law enforcement personnel, and the public

We’re Looking For Someone Who:
✔️ Is organized, dependable, and detail-oriented
✔️ Has strong computer and Microsoft Office skills
✔️ Can learn specialized systems such as Laserfiche and CAD
✔️ Can work independently with limited supervision
✔️ Communicates clearly and professionally
✔️ Understands the importance of confidentiality and sound judgment
✔️ Is committed to accuracy and excellent customer service
