Herndon at the holidays has that incredible small-town feel. From Christmas tree lightings with carols, to a holiday market it all adds to the feel of community. But absolutely nothing says small-town holiday warmth and charm than families opening up their private homes to people to see how they live and celebrate the holidays of their faiths and backgrounds. Time is ticking and you don't want to lose out on that joy.

Congratulations to the next Herndon Town Council!! The unofficial results are in.... Congratulations to our newest Councilmembers Keven LeBlanc Here for Herndon, Donielle Scherff for Herndon Town Council and Clark Hedrick for Herndon Town Council, who appears to be our next Vice Mayor! Thank you to everyone who worked hard and really got out there to meet people and find out what's important to your neighbors. Serving on the council was the honor of my life, and I wish you all the very best!
"They" say that you campaign in poetry and govern in prose. (Even though sometimes campaigning can seem more like gangta rap than a sonnet 🤣) In the end, we are all neighbors who just want Herndon to be the best place it can be. Go out there and do great things!
Thanks for supporting the arts Keven LeBlanc Here for Herndon
The HHTH committee was working hard to get postcards labeled, stamped and mailed. Tickets go on sale Oct 31. You don’t want to miss the 2022 tour! There’s a lot of special new things we’re including this year.

From Lisa Merkel, Herndon Mayor 2012-2020
“Herndon, please be sure that you are voting for people you can trust to put Herndon and the people who live here FIRST. Building relationships - not partisan politics - is what local government is all about. Please join me in supporting Sheila Olem -Mayor, Town of Herndon, and Keven LeBlanc Here for Herndon, Stevan Porter4Herndon, and Clark Hedrick for Herndon Town Council for Herndon Town Council. Keven, Stevan, and Clark truly care about Herndon, and have run their campaigns with integrity and genuine care for the people they hope to serve. ! It matters!”
It has come to our attention that a misleading sample ballot, inaccurately indicating Party endorsement in the non-partisan Town of Herndon elections, is being distributed at early voting locations.

Yesterday evening, I attended the annual Salute to Lords and Ladies Fairfax event held in the Board Auditorium. This tradition began in 1984 when Celebrate Fairfax asked each member of the Board of Supervisors to select two individuals to represent their district.
This year, I was proud to honor Lady Lisa Merkel and Lord Steven Bloom for their unwavering commitment and exceptional service to the Dranesville district community.
Lisa served five consecutive terms on the Herndon Town Council, first as Vice Mayor from 2010-2012 and, later, as the first woman elected as Mayor, serving from 2012- 2020 when she decided not to seek re-election. During her tenure as Mayor, Lisa facilitated the Downtown Redevelopment Project, established the Economic Development Department, secured funding for many pedestrian and bicycle projects, and rezoned the Herndon Transit Oriented Core at the Herndon Metro Station in anticipation of the opening of Phase Two of the Silver Line. She is also a member of the Herndon Historical Society, a patron of the NextStop Theatre Company, and a recipient of the 2020 Trustee Leadership Award from Leadership Fairfax.
Steven has served the residents of Fairfax County and the Board of Supervisors in multiple voluntary leadership positions for many years. He was appointed to the Fairfax County Community Action Advisory Board in 2006 and served as chair from 2009-2012. He was also appointed to the Fairfax County Human Services Council in 2012 and served as chair from 2016-2019. Steven also served on the Dranesville District Budget Task Force from 2009-2014. He is currently President of the McLean Community Foundation, an organization he joined in June 2019.
Congratulations to Lisa, Steven, and all the honorees on receiving this award, and thank you for your service to Fairfax County!
