Today, our GraceInside team is mourning the tragic loss of Corrections Officer Jeremy Lewis Hall.

Violence claimed the life of the 40-year-old CO, who was killed in the line of duty after being attacked this morning at River North CC.

We acknowledge the pain, fear, outrage, and disorientation that follows these events, which are felt deeply across the whole system. While our team feels a measure of inadequacy in times like this (or at least I do), we will continue doing our best to nurture faith and hope across all 37 prisons in Virginia, including supporting the staff in any way we can.

For any volunteers or partner ministries who might read this, please consider how you might express your condolences to DOC staff and your gratitude for their (often thankless) service.

Holding Officer Hall’s family, all those at RNCC, and all those impacted by this loss in prayer. Holding all inmates and correctional staff in prayer. Holding all victims of violence, and all perpetrators of violence, in prayer. May the peace and healing of Christ prevail in our broken world. He is able.
