The golden glow of the Christmas Mountains stand against Pulliam Peak, in the western Chisos Mountains, gleaming its last light of the day before being devoured by the evening thunderstorm. (Emory Peak, the highest point in Big Bend National Park, is on the far left, shrouded in rain.)

I happened upon this cicada molting from its exoskeleton on our fence one Sunday morning before church a couple of weeks ago.

When I was 12, my father gave me a Popular Science magazine with an article about how to make your own pinhole camera using electrical tape, cardboard, tin foil, and rubber bands. The camera used a 126 film cartridge. This is that camera and it launched a passion for the art of photography in me that has lasted nearly 4 decades now.

Today, I use only my cell phone to take my pics. Although the technology has changed, the pursuit of that perfect shot has never wavered. I hope you enjoy them and please be sure to like my page, as you never know- I just might finally find that perfect shot and I'd like you to be on that journey with me.

Big Bend National Park- Looking East towards the west side sentinel of the Chisos Mountains, Ward Mountain, during the waning evening light. Cattail Canyon is just on the other side of it. If you look closely, you'll see the peaks of the Window on the bottom left of the mountain and the Southwest Rim grand standing in the shadows on the bottom right.
