I caught this brown on the Missouri in the evening in 2011.
It was laid up to a bank in skinny water, recklessly eating caddis.
I made one cast and caught him.
I was very proud of this.
I told that story to a legendary Missouri River guide that I knew and worked with the next day.
He said “yeah those bank eating fish are pretty fu***ng dumb”
Don’t ever forget that fishing is supposed to be fun

Very official snow total update. Due to current budget cuts at Yellow Lab Outfitting LLC’s world wide headquarters, we had to get rid of any objects that measure distance. So I’m guessing this is anywhere between 3 to 21 feet of accumulation.

Despite recent significant snow in the Helena area, it seems we can’t break out of the 80% range. We are forecasted to receive another 7-14” of snow throughout the week, hopefully this bumps us into the 90% range. We still have a long way to go to collect more snowpack, with March and April typically being fairly wet, hopefully we get to 100%. Cold and wet springs are essential for a good rainbow spawn, which in turn means high recruitment for juvenile trout. Personally I would love to see high flushing flows this spring…fingers crossed

Spent the morning at Yellow Lab Outfitting LLC’s worldwide headquarters asking Microsoft Copilot to help me generate a logo. Safe to say we are years away from skynet from taking over.
