Ozone in Dentistry

Ozone (O3) is a supercharged, unstable oxygen (O2) molecule that contains an extra electron. that it wants to donate. Due to ozone’s properties, it is a very powerful oxidizer or pro-oxidant. Ozone is non-toxic when used properly and is generated in some of our immune cells. The oxidizing potential of ozone disrupts the membranes of viruses, bacteria, fungi and parasites. Humans have enzymes in our membranes that protect us from cell membrane disruption.

Therapeutically, ozone gas can be use in dentistry to sterilize teeth surfaces prior to placing a filling, sealant, build up and crown. Ozone gas may also be used in patients who have periodontal disease, after cleanings, soft tissue inflammation or after extractions. We also provide ozonated olive oil in our practice which can be applied to areas of infection, inflammation and extraction sites.

Please contact our office if you have any questions about ozone in dentistry. (972) 772-7645

Let’s talk remineralization. We have this discussion daily with our patients.

Here are some tips that we like to recommend:
Alkalize the diet. Cavities can’t grow in an alkaline environment.

Limit high glycemic foods, even fruits. If you or your children love fruit, try to limit to one per day and consider blackberries, elderberries, raspberries or blueberries. Adding a raw cream can slow the conversion into sugar as well.

Hydroxyapatite toothpaste is helpful in remineralizing teeth and alkalizing the environment.

Trace minerals or a multi-mineral supplement.

Address the cavities. Bacteria from the cavity release acidic byproducts make the oral environment acidic. Our goal is to shift the pH to alkalinity.

Don’t for gut health. This is important for many reasons, including oral health, immunity and mood.

Please call our office if you have any questions! (972) 772-7645

"My fillings and crowns are biocompatible and I have felt more energetic and clear headed since they were safely removed. The team is very conscientious about protecting the patient and themselves from exposure. Even though the procedure was intense, I felt comfortable due to the caring nature of the doctor, the assistant and massage therapist."
