Whimsical Little Free Library

I'm sorry to announce that I am closing the Whimsical Little Free Library. Due to personal and health issues, I am no longer able to care for the library as I once did.

I will leave this site up so I can post information regarding a yard sale I will be having to get rid of the thousands of books, puzzles, games, and holiday items I have on hand for the library.

Thank you for your support over the years.

Our little library has donated 87 pounds of food to the Central Texas Food Bank so far! Thank you all for dropping off good. And a big thank you to who ever left the big donation today - that will easily get us over 100 pounds.

We are still collecting, until the end of the month.

LAST week finished our summer of reading with Dino Week. This week I refilled the adult books and puzzles.

I also set out a donation basket for a month long food drive benefiting Central Texas Food Bank. So next time you head to the Whimsical Little Free Library, clean out your pantry first!

Donations will be removed nightly and donated each Friday.

It's Pirate Week!

It's Western Week at the library.

July 10th is national Teddy Bear Picnic day. Stop by and grab a little picnic for two and a copy of Teddy Bear Picnic.

This entire week we will be celebrating bears. Bear pencils, crafts, sun glasses, erasers, movies, books, and I even found a 1,000 piece Bear puzzle.

It's Red, White and Blue at the library. Every book, movie, and puzzle has been replaced with items that are red, white and blue.

It's unicorn week! We have some great graphic unicorn stories, unicorn puzzles, and lots of fun giveaways.

It's SHARK Week! There are books and movies featuring sharks and other ocean creatures ready to be enjoyed. Lots of prizes too...beach towels, shell necklaces, squirter sharks, fish notepads, shark kites, and more!

Summer Reading Program?

Since I've returned to work, I've found it much harder to contribute the time necessary to organize and sponsor a reading program over the summer. But as a parent, I realize the importance of such a program.

So this summer, I am introducing a new concept, the Parent Sponsored Summer Reading Program.

You can stop by the library and pick up a handout that contains a summer calendar, contract, and a list of themed weeks that will be held at our little library for the summer.

You will discuss with your child what award they would like for reading all summer, and agree upon how much they have to read/how often. Then you will fill out the contract attached to the summer calendar.

They'll track their reading time on the calendar and if they meet the agreed upon goal, you'll provide the prize they want.

To keep the summer fun, I will be sponsoring nine Themed weeks at our little library. The first themed week starts on June 4th and is Splash into Summer.

Christmas books, puzzles, and toys are out at the library.

I set a table out behind the library and piled it with HOLIDAY goodness. It will be out all weekend. Books for all age groups.

We are getting closer!!!!!

We are working on the parking spot, and small yard, for our little gypsy wagon library. If anyone has a couple extra bricks or pavers, we could use them.

Just drop them by the library and I'll incorporate them I the design.

Could also use left over colored gravel, sand, etc.
