Did you know that U.S. government subsidies like SNAP (formerly known as food stamps) don’t cover toiletries, like soap? 🧼 Neither did I until Stacy Wiener, the founder of the 501(3)(c) charity, S.A.C.K. reached out to me.

Join me and my Stitchwell Social Club community to do our part to help unserved humans not to have to choose between nourishment and cleanliness.

Knit or crochet soap sacks to act as heartfelt vessels for “wrapped” soap bars. Donate them to your local shelter, food pantry, or other aid organization, or send them to S.A.C.K. and Stacy will make sure they get distributed.

For a good portion of the two years since we shut down my business, YarnYAY!, I thought I’d come to hate designing. I suppose, though, that designing, pattern draft writing, photographing, promoting, and sourcing the yarn for an average of two knit and crochet projects per month for six years straight will do that to a person. For a long minute, I mostly stopped producing designs.⁣

Recently, though, I decided to release a crochet pattern for a chunky, cropped, open-weave tee that I’d originally just created for me. And now, getting to see photos of beautiful humans proudly modeling something I had a hand in, but they made themselves and feel cute in — well, that feels to me like a glimpse of light at the end of a burnt out tunnel.⁣
