We now have a stallion herd so empty pastures can regrow. This is Allister and Tiny. He must remember his son as they got along just fine. Spirit and Allister had to work out the pecking order. They get a bucket or two of grass clippings each day besides their hay. I am attempting transplanting grass weeds into the pastures and water them to produce grass seed. It's so interesting which species of grass does better.

Nikolai spotted 2 deer browsing around the lake front. Seemed a little late in the morning for them to be out. The other month I did see a fox run by the lake front. I've only seen it once before. I guess he comes by only once a decade.

Discovered this interesting lizard while removing cardboard from the burn pile. Isn't his chest an interesting sky blue color ? I couldn't really find out who he is. Possibly a fence or pine lizard ?
Mirabella captured an otter running from our lake to Ollivander's pasture in around 2 or 3 pm last Wednesday. We thought it might be a mink or weasel but the biologist told us it is an otter because of it's size. A weasel is only 3 tennis balls in length. Always fun to see new wildlife around here.

Today was the first time Ollivander had a real rider on him. Clay did great. He's a trick rider. Clay even took him outside the round pen, to the unfenced riding arena, and around about half the horse track. Ollivander did so well that the horse trainer Erin also got on him in the round pen. It was a very happy day for us. Our other 2 horses we ride are older, so it will be good to have a young horse to ride. Eric has big dreams for Ollivander. He wants to train him to race around barrels in our Riding Arena. I really hope the Riding Arena can be finished this year. Once Ollivander is done getting trained, guess who's getting trained next ? Lol, me. I would appreciate a trainer that can help me learn to ride a horse better. Doesn't everyone have the dream of being on a running horse ?

This cute little fox squirrel (all black with a tiny white spot on its nose) came to the round pen 3x this morning while important horse training was going on. It was so strange. What is so interesting to him in the round pen ?

Haven't seen the gators for a while... until this morning. I don't plan on fishing with my youngest son anytime soon. The water in the lake is still going out. I'm trying to work on digging up the water lilies close to the water. Cacti eradication is basically done, minus 2 cacti I saw at the chicken barn.

After 2 weeks, Ollivander finally surrendered and layed down. She said he has to lay down one more time next week. This is an exercise in dominance.

Storm (filly) and Tiny (c**t) did great in the round pen for the first time. Both learned change of direction well. Storm loped and Tiny only trotted. I will work them in the round pen the next few nights. They are learning to walk better on the lead rope.

What a nice gate they hung going into the Equestrian Center. Now I can train the mini foals in the round pen. We have been working with them, desensitizing them to the rope, brushing and grooming them, picking up their hooves. We've been making progress with desensitizing them to the bag at the end of the whip. They are learning to walk with the lead rope with sometimes the help of the butt rope to move them along. Tomorrow, I will start running them in the round pen and hopefully teach them direction by pointing and applying pressure. They almost finished burying the cacti. Apparently I missed more cacti that were not dug up. I've moved onto digging up water lily roots. This entrance to the Equestrian Center will make riding Prince Unicorn around the racetrack easier too. All in all, the Equestrian Center is coming along. Just need the hitching post and probably will start the Riding Arena back to the original size, not the expanded size.
