Wild fact about the mountain we're hiking for: on April 12, 1934, the Mount Washington Observatory recorded a wind gust of 231 mph. For 62 years that was the highest surface wind speed ever measured anywhere on Earth. Their observers have been logging weather like that, every hour, for 90+ years.
