Preparing for the unlikely event that I encounter Green Drakes next week. These are a version of Quigley cripples, some with clipped hackle.

Weekend project. Make the bean patch safe from rabbits. I make rabbit fences in 4 ft sections (actually 46 inches to allow for overlap) out of 2x2 pine. The sections are 9 inches high and covered with 1/4 inch hardware cloth. I made 6 sections yesterday and today I screwed them together with deck screws. The system worked well last year on our lettuce bed (last picture) so I decided to go all out in the war against the Leporidae 😁👍

I really love wood. And the more twisted and knotty it looks the more I love it. I think it might stem back to growing up in the late 60s and early 70s. Everything was covered in wood paneling. Good times 😉

Belive it or not (you probably belive it) this has been my "tripod" for almost 10 years of youtube videos. There is a very cheap plastic tripod at the top, but it was too unstable. Hockey tape, a dowel, a spring clamp, ans a knockoff workmate table. Originally it sat in a doghole in my workbench. It was only supposed to last until I got around to finding something better. It took me all of 5 minutes to locate the new articulating arm on Amazon. Better late than never? 🙃

I have 5 hand made CaneRod Pens (would you rather I call them CaneRod Pipes Pens) for sale on my website www.canerodpipes.com Check out the site for more information on the wood used and how to order. My goal is to have some tampers and maybe a couple of pre-frazed 'Spincasters' available next month. And the shop is, of course, open for pipe maintenance.

Briar and ebonite never make a mess like this. It's going to take me a day just to clean up when this project is done 😅

It's alive!
Back in the saddle cleaning pipes and listening to Phillies baseball. Not a bad way to spend an evening 😉👍

Just a quick update for those that might be interested. The workshop is open and there is a list of services available at www.canerodpipes.com. There also a sign-up form for what will likely be a monthly newsletter, and a new blog post that is a bit more light hearted than my usual writings.
Enjoy, and may you continue to be blessed in this season of Lent.

Dear Friends, Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday which begins the season of Lent. I will once again be "fasting" from Instagram and Facebook in order to spend more time working on spiritual growth. Since I am in the process of reopening CaneRod Pipes, there may be an occasional post here by way of update. However I will not be responding to comments or direct messages during Lent. Many of you have my contact details and can reach me by phone. Anyone can reach me by email at [email protected]. Thank you for your patience and understanding during the next 40 days.
I hope that you all have a very blessed Lenten season.
