The season is changing, the weather is cooling down, seeing lots of activity in the fields. Found this beautiful female Northern Harrier hunting today.

Traveled up north this morning and visited Hagerman National Refugee. As we made our way down a red dirt road, an employee approached us and told us about 2 raptors fighting over food up the road ahead of us. We thanked him and snuck up on a juvenile Peregrine Falcon holding down a smaller bird, there was a Cooper’s Hawk standing about 15 feet from the Falcon watching him eat. We continued on and saw several American Avocets feeding in a small pond. The highlight of our excursion was a Bald Eagle perched on a post, it was magnificent. We were also lucky enough to see flocks of pelicans, a rat snake, and a cottonmouth. One of our best birding days ever!
