Color is starting to show itself around the farm! But unfortunately so are the ticks! I can deal with most bugs but something about ticks make me itchy and give me the ick. I was only sitting in the grass for 5 minutes and this jerk decided to ruin my day

Greenhouses are filling up and I’m getting excited! These are artichokes and rhubarb, they take a couple years before you can harvest but will be a great addition to our perennial garden! And a beautiful egg from today just because I’m obsessed.

The cold makes some beautiful sunsets but I’m ready for spring! -35 wind chill is hard in everyone around here. Water freezes quickly, animals need extra care, and everything is just harder to do. Looking forward to some warm days ahead and everyone stay safe out there!

Happy birthday to me! My first order of seeds came! I always get my fun, new, interesting seeds from . I’ll be starting a lot of these in just over a month and will have plants for sale again this year!

It’s been a very hard couple days. With the heat index of 115 I’ve been trying to keep animals cool, gardens going, and a toddler happy. I was drained today, but then something amazing happened. We were out in the orchard and saw swallows, looked up and saw hundreds of dragonflies! (Hard to get a good picture of them). Kept walking toward our trails and saw more monarchs than I’ve ever seen, easily 50!! Our daughter kept saying “wooowww” and I’m in awe. Just when things get hard, and tiring, something reminds you that these hard times are always worth it.

Our first watermelon! Sweet and delicious! Also got our first noodle beans this week and why is there always that one zucchini that hides until it’s the size of my child??

Picked a half bushel of peaches and made 11 half pints of jam today! This is our first year getting a good peach harvest, the bugs or wind usually get to them before they’re ready and we’re left with only a few. I think a few more peach trees are in our future!

I think it’s time to upgrade Wilburs pool! A nice little dip in cool water on a hot day

Swipe for the meal! Everything is from our garden, freezer, and a 53 cent pack of pho noodles that made an amazing and quick dinner! We got a meat package from awhile back and now we get to grocery shop without leaving the house.

Our first cauliflower!! I’ve never successfully grown one! Usually they’re eaten by bugs and get icky before it’s even close to picking. This was my first year starting the seeds inside and transplanting in April, and it’s paid off! Carrots, beets , snow peas and rainbow chard are also becoming a daily staple for us! I have plenty of swiss chard and snow peas to share!
