💚💛❤🖤Juneteenth reminds us that freedom is not only about liberation...it is also about opportunity, dignity, and the chance to build a better future.

At Community Partners in Action, we honor Juneteenth by continuing our work to remove barriers, expand opportunities, and help individuals returning from incarceration reconnect with their families, communities, and purpose.

Today, we celebrate freedom, resilience, and the ongoing work of creating pathways to success for all.

ICYMI: The CT Insider today shared the compelling article "'Like a civic death': CT men face lasting financial hardships after incarceration, report finds." The story reports on DataHaven’s recent Community Wellbeing Survey, and found that formerly incarcerated men face significant challenges upon reentering their communities. Across the country, policymakers are recognizing a simple truth: successful reentry strengthens public safety, families, and communities.

Connecticut recently took a major step forward by making a direct state investment in community-based Reentry Welcome Centers, like ours in Greater Hartford and Greater Waterbury. As more states look for solutions that reduce recidivism and help people return home successfully, Connecticut has an opportunity to lead.

More than 95% of people who are incarcerated will one day return to their communities. The question is whether they return with support, opportunity, and hope.

Mental health is a vital part of overall well-being, yet many men continue to struggle in silence.

Whether someone is returning home after incarceration, overcoming addiction, rebuilding family relationships, or navigating life's daily challenges, support matters.

At Community Partners in Action, we believe that every person deserves the opportunity to heal, grow, and move forward with hope.

This month, let's remind the men in our lives that asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.

💙A Historic Investment in Connecticut's Future💙

Yesterday, the Hartford Courant published an Op-Ed by CPA Executive Director Beth Hines highlighting Connecticut's landmark investment in Reentry Welcome Centers and the people they serve.

This funding represents more than support for six programs. It reflects a growing recognition that when people return home from incarceration, access to housing, employment, health care, and community support strengthens public safety, improves public health, and creates stronger communities for everyone.

More than 95% of people who are incarcerated will one day return home. The question is not whether they will return. The question is whether they will have the support needed to succeed.

For years, Reentry Welcome Centers across Connecticut have helped thousands of people reconnect with employment, housing, treatment, education, and hope. This historic investment ensures that this work can continue and expand.

We are grateful to Governor Lamont, state legislators, community partners, advocates, donors, and everyone who stood with us to make this moment possible.

We have lots to celebrate.

For the first time, Connecticut has allocated annual state funding for Reentry Welcome Centers.

Thank you to the legislators, advocates, donors, community partners, and supporters who helped make this historic investment possible. Together, we're creating stronger communities and more opportunities for second chances.
