We are still smiling after an incredible day at the Elm City Freddy Fixer Parade on Sunday, June 7.

For more than 60 years, this New Haven tradition has brought the community together rooted in African American culture and a shared commitment to pride, care, and connection. What began in 1962 as a neighborhood cleanup has grown into one of the city’s most meaningful celebrations.

This year did not disappoint. Dixwell Avenue came alive with marching bands, community groups, families, and neighbors moving together, dancing, laughing, and celebrating everything that makes New Haven special. The weather was on our side, the music carried down the street, and the energy was unforgettable. Leading the celebration was Grand Marshal Tyler Booker, New Haven’s own and a 2025 first-round NFL draft pick.

CTtransit is honored to be part of this tradition. Our operators, mechanics, and staff don’t just serve the community, they are part of it. Events like Freddy Fixer remind us why we do what we do and who we do it for.

Thank you, New Haven, for letting us celebrate alongside you. We will see you next year.

We were honored to welcome the LEAD (Leadership Exchange and Development) cohort to our New Haven Division for a day of leadership, innovation, and transit excellence!

As part of this prestigious executive development program, participants from transit agencies across North America toured our facilities, connected with agency leadership, and explored the work that keeps our communities moving every day.

Thank you to LEAD for spending the day with us, and for fostering the next generation of transit leaders. Partnerships like this keep public transportation moving forward with innovation and collaboration!

Connecticut’s buses have come a long way in 50 years!

This early 1900s model bus had a seating capacity of 29 people. These were used widely in cities to replace streetcars as public transit continued to evolve.

We are honored to innovate and serve in an industry with such a fascinating and rich history. The best is yet to come as we gear up for our 50th anniversary this summer!
