As the Government shutdown continues; workers, families and friends may begin to feel the effects of this shutdown in their pocketbooks. Studies consistently show that men and women experiencing financial hardship are at a much higher risk of developing anxiety, depression, and stress-related health issues. There are resources through the United Way available to help workers with financial hardships, mental health, and substance abuse. These resources are outside of our existing Employee Assistance Program.
In addition to the resources below, the AFL-CIO government shutdown letter campaign can be found HERE. Putting pressure on congress to get back to the table and bargain in good faith is going to be key to getting the government running and frozen project funds moving again.
