In April, I had the opportunity to meet with the award-winning playwright and Wi******er resident, Cinzi Lavin, at the State Capitol. Cinzi wrote the incredible play “A Goodnight Kiss,” which is inspired by the true love story of two Goshen residents during the Civil War. The play is directed by Litchfield County’s own Kathy Kelly, a regional theater veteran.

The production brings to life 90 authentic letters exchanged between Sarah Jane “Jennie” Wadhams and Sergeant Major Frederick Lucas (who later served as a state legislator), written between 1863 and 1867.

“A Goodnight Kiss” will be performed by special engagement on June 13th and June 14th at Five Points Arts Center in Torrington. Make sure to get your tickets and watch this great play featuring rich history and talent from across the 30th District!

Great day for the Brookfield CT Lions Club Strides to Cure Diabetes Run with my dad! This annual event brings the Brookfield community together to raise awareness and support diabetes research, something I care deeply about, having a mother who has lived with Type 1 diabetes for over 40 years.

It was a busy Friday in Litchfield County!

State Representative Karen Reddington-Hughes and I enjoyed meeting with a packed room of constituents this morning for coffee and conversation at Patty's Restaurant. We recapped the legislative session and covered topics including electric rates and the Public Benefits Charge, parental and educational rights, and speed cameras.

Then I headed to Goshen for a picnic with local seniors. I truly enjoyed catching up with longtime friends and constituents and talking about the issues that matter most to them.

I strongly echo Senator Jeff Gordon’s sentiments and statements. Sen. Gordon is a champion for his district and clearly understands the importance of standing up for what is right.

I’m excited to announce that the State Bond Commission approved new funding for Brookfield and Torrington!

$1.75 million in funding was awarded to the Brookfield Housing Authority for repairs to existing senior and disabled housing units. This will help support our community members and make vital, long-needed improvements to housing in our town.

$698,350 in Community Investment Funding was awarded to the City of Torrington for the Market Street Creatives Project. This funding will help transform the former Turner & Seymour building in Torrington into a vibrant business and cultural hub. Expanding the successful makerspace, this project will offer artist studios, coworking spaces, and a large event venue. The project will drive economic growth and provide a key space for community events and cultural activities!

The rain didn’t stop us from honoring and paying tribute to the brave service members who defended our freedoms and made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. I had the privilege of attending Memorial Day ceremonies today with my son and State Representative Billy Buckbee in New Milford and with State Representative Karen Reddington-Hughes at the American Legion Post 27. 🇺🇸

Today, we pause to honor the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. Memorial Day is a solemn reminder that the freedoms we hold dear come at a profound cost. We are forever grateful to those who have served and protected our country. We will never forget.

I had the pleasure of joining State Representative Karen Reddington-Hughes to present a legislative citation to Hilary and Jorge Criollo, owners of Hopkins Vineyard, in honor of a truly remarkable achievement. Their 2024 “Heritage” Riesling was recently served to King Charles III at a White House State Dinner.

Congratulations to the entire Hopkins Vineyard family. You’ve made our district and the Northwest Corner proud!
