How You Can Make a Difference in Southwest Local Schools
In response to the May 5 election, many members of our community have reached out asking how they can help support Southwest Local Schools. We are grateful for that generosity and commitment to our students, staff, and schools.

To provide an opportunity for those who would like to give, Southwest has created an option for private donations to directly support our schools.

Donations can be made through the District website (link below) by scrolling down and selecting the “Donate” button on the main page, or by delivering cash or a check to the District Office at 10800 Campbell Road, Harrison, Ohio 45030. You may also see the attached flyer and QR code.

Harrison Junior School thanks and congratulates our Certified Employee of the Year Dan Rettig (not pictured), Classified Employee of the Year Brittany Kane, Friend of Education Samantha Cox, and retirees Larry Black, Julie Coffey, and Cassie Montgomery.

Congratulations to our student-athletes who represented HJS well at the 7th & 8th grade State Track & Field championships.

Autumn Hoch captured 6th place in the 100M & 3rd place in the 200M. She holds the school record in both events with times of 12.49 and 26.00 respectively.

Aiden Jent placed 7th in Long Jump with a personal best of 18-08.50.

Kellen Holbert placed 11th with a Pole Vault of 10-0.

The girls 4x100M relay team of Peyton Watson, Ava Agnew, Sydney Dummitt & Autumn Hoch placed 14th and hold the school record at 53.34

Sofia Pangallo qualified for state with a High Jump of 4-11.

Once again, the Southwest Local School District has received a Clean Audit Award from the Ohio Auditor of State, with no findings, comments, or management letter.

Eligible entities that receive this award meet the following criteria of a “clean” audit report:

The entity must file financial reports with the Auditor of State’s Office by the statutory due date, without extension, via the Hinkle System on the GAAP accounting basis.

The audit report does not contain any findings for recovery, material citations, material weaknesses, significant deficiencies, Uniform Guidance (Single Audit) findings, or questioned costs.
The entity’s management letter contains no comments related to:
- Ethics referrals
- Questioned costs less than the threshold per Uniform Guidance
- Lack of timely report submission
- Bank reconciliation issues
- Failure to obtain a timely Single Audit in accordance with Uniform Guidance
- Findings for recovery less than $500
- Public meetings or public records issues

The entity has no other financial or other concerns.

Kicking off Teacher Appreciation Week the right way!

Thank you so much to our PEP Club who treated our incredible teachers and staff to a mid-day pick-me-up with the Carbonation Station — because they deserve all the bubbles and all the love! And to make it even better, our teachers got to enjoy the day in their comfy clothes and PJs!

Thank you for everything you do each and every day to support, inspire, and uplift our students. We appreciate you more than words can say!
