Harrison Fights Cancer

Hi Everyone! Harrison Fights Cancer has their two main fundraisers coming up in May! Shatter Cancer is a trap shooting fundraiser held at the Harrison Gun Club on Saturday, May 6th. Our Annual Golf Invitational is on Saturday, May 20th at Grand Oaks Golf Course. See flyers for each event. They are both open to the public. The trap shoot doesn't require advance registration, you can just show up and join in the fun. The golf invitational does require advance registration, so if you are interested, please let us know!

For those of you that wish to keep contributing under the Harrison name with ACS, we have a new website set up. It's www.main.acsevents.org/harrisonfightscancer . This is virtually a re-naming of our Relay group, and any contributions made under this website still go directly to ACS and gets added to our historical accounting totals that Harrison had contributed to ACS during our 15-year Relay run. The main differences are that we do not have an annual event, and we are not held to zone restrictions for fundraising like Relay was.

Of course, definitely feel welcome to join any of our surrounding Relays if you want the full Relay experience! This can be important especially for survivors. I know that any of our surrounding Relays would be thrilled to welcome both survivors and participants to their group. We are all after the same, solitary goal and all funds end up in the same pot at the end of the year.

We are in the process of converting our Relay For Life of Harrison page over to Harrison Fights Cancer! Please continue to follow us on this page if you wish to be informed of fundraising efforts by former Relay For Life of Harrison committee and participants! Harrison Fights Cancer will continue fundraising for American Cancer Society under our own unique platform. Several former Harrison teams have continued down the Relay path and have joined other local Relays such as Colerain and Butler County. If you have any questions or need more information on how to continue supporting the American Cancer Society, please drop us a note and we will get you assistance. After several hours of discussion amongst committee members and American Cancer Society staff, it was decided that the 2016 Relay For Life of Harrison will be the last Relay event in Harrison.

At our June 11th, 2016 event, we will be celebrating all that the Relay For Life of Harrison has accomplished during our fifteen years of existence. We joyfully invite back prior participants/teams to come join us for our final festivities even if you are not an official registrant of this year’s event. Here is our event schedule.
Start of Relay – Committee takes 1st Lap: 3pm
Survivor Lap followed by Survivor dinner (for registered
survivors): 5pm
Live Auction by Dale Lutz: 7pm
Start of Luminaria Festivities and Special Performance by
Harrison VOCE: 9pm
Closing Celebration: 10:30pm
Final Lap: 11:00pm

We look forward to finishing off our Fifteenth and Final Year of Relay with a bang. We would greatly appreciate any donations, whether they be monetary or items that can be auctioned off during our live auction. It would also be wonderful for past Relayers to support our final year by attending this year's Relay, which ever part fits into your schedule.

All teams are welcome to attend our meeting next Monday the 8th 7pm at the Harrison Civic Center off New Haven to learn a little more about this year's Relay. We hope to see you there!
