We were recently asked to unlock and originate a key for this Fire Alarm Station box and it was a great opportunity to dust off some of the more rarely used skills. The owner deals in antiques and is not sure what city this station is from or the time frame in which it was used. There is a patent date of 1924 on the door and a telegraph station inside. Wonder how many years telegraph was used. Seems like business got handled before the days of computers, cell phones and the internet.

It has been a while since we last posted anything. There have been many things that have come through here in the time since you last heard from us. None of those things have been covid and that is a great blessing.

In a recent article in the Locksmith Ledger the writer mentioned things that have caused great concern to the population over the years. Among the things he mentioned were polio and the “A” bomb. He included a picture of an article indexed in the April 1959 Locksmith Ledger. The article was about government test of various safes and insulated files. There have been many things of great concern to the population throughout time. In most of these times physical security has played a role in the course of navigating them. Security at the nuclear sites and labs where vaccines and medicines are made and by extension the homes of those who were critical participants in the processes was a paramount issue.

Covid has posed a serious threat to the life and livelihoods of everyone, however there is great confidence that it too shall be vanquished.

As covid has progressed door hardware has seen treatments of bacterial resistant coatings and there has been a surge in alternate door pulls. Pulls that can be operated by foot or by forearm thus preserving the sanitation of the hand.

We are surviving the pandemic and all of the upheaval in our world. We pray for healing of our nation, from illness and the division among our people. Simple as John 13:34, "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another." We are all made in God's image and need to remember that. Trust the Lord, love Him and one another, with that life is much easier.

We are here and available but the calls have decreased. With time available we are cleaning up. Old locks that were taken off and new ones installed are finally being scrapped. Brass parts in the brass bucket, steel parts in the steel bucket and other materials in another bucket all for recycling. Had to get more buckets.
