Exploring America's microcultures, one place per issue Local Quarterly is seeking out the overlooked American narrative.
We aim to highlight regions that can never be packaged, sensationalized, or sold the way pop culture magnifies perceived mass appeal. Through collaborative journalism, we will piece together conversations, images, and experiences and try to hit the microcosmic bell. We will explore why Main Street still matters, communicate curiosities without cynicism, and report on serious, germane issues, preserving heritage where its dying and thriving.

Accidentally, we skipped the Monday Feature Artist. We'll make it up to you. Meet Matt Guariglia our intrepid reporter, who tried to make sense of an alternative Declaration of Independence in Issue 1, survived a 12-hour police ride around in Issue 2, played insider to ghosts and roller derby action in Issue 3, and got to the bottom of the deep-rooted LGBT community in Harrisburg for Issue 4. His pseudonym is Kurt Singapore, only when he dons the hat below.
