We are excited to partner with Region 1 on their ambitious project to install thousands of trees across RGV cities. Big things happening in the beautiful city of San Benito!!
π³ Growing San Benito, one tree at a time.
The City of San Benito recently received a Tree Canopy Grant to expand tree planting throughout the community.
This week, Mayor Rick Guerra, City Manager Fred Sandoval and City staff met with Audrey Hooks of Simmons Tree Farm, Allen Williams with Region One, and Keep San Benito Beautiful to walk the resaca trails, review existing trees, and plan future planting areas.
This regional grant totals $1,181,667 and will fund the planting of 5,000 trees across participating cities, including San Benito.
More trees mean:
Cooler outdoor spaces
More shade for trails and parks
Better stormwater management
Cleaner air
More shade for trails and parks
A greener, healthier community
Plantings will focus on areas that need them most, helping San Benito grow more sustainably for everyone. π
