Shop Assistant Duties and Responsibilities

Provide general assistance around the shop, including administrative and technical tasks.
Answer shop phones and assist customers with any questions or scheduling requests.
Monitor daily schedule.
Maintain a well-organized and orderly storefront.
Keep track of inventory.
Create work orders and assist the manager with dispatching daily jobs.
Greet customers and answer questions regarding goods or services sold.
Ensure the stockroom is organized and orderly.
Assist customers with purchases by processing their payments at registers.
Make sure workers and technicians have the tools necessary to complete their assigned tasks.

Shop Assistant Requirements and Qualifications

High school diploma or GED equivalent
Aptitude for mechanics
Familiarity with hand tools
Capacity to analyze a situation and prioritize tasks
Strong communication skills
Exceptional hand-eye coordination
Strong time-management skills
Physically capable of standing for extended periods of time and lifting up to 70 pounds
Computer literate and comfortable using POS systems
Excellent customer service and strong interpersonal skills
