There's got to be a better system for those who are being integrated back into society. I'm not saying that there should be just free money poured out. I'm thinking more of an incintivized style program. Hear me out... What if there were a 45 Reentry Plan that required you to Get a job, get your Certifications, Provide Clothing, Job Prep, 45 day Snap Benefit, only if you accept a paid OTJ assignment that leads to a potential full time job. But why stop there, tbh people are going to mess up, it's just reality, so implement a 3 strike rule- After your third failed attempt, you are expelled from the program. Then, when all is said and done, if you complete parole or probation, you don't have to pay back any of the resources, however if you fail to complete your parole or probation, you will be required to foot your own bill. Why not make these the responsibility of Halfway houses, who are already funded by DOC? This wouldn't be an addition to the budget, it would be more of a relocation of resources. For those who were incarcerated, wouldnt this have been more helpful upon getting out? Or am I just bugging?
