DO NOT PANIC!!!! Your Windows 10 machine will still work as always after the October end of support date. However, Microsoft plans to discontinue future security updates for Windows 10. Your antivirus will work as usual for now. If you do any online financial transactions the upgrade is highly recommended. Microsoft to my knowledge has never ended windows support on the date they advertise. With Windows XP it was almost two years later. I recommend Not to take a chance and wait and see. Keep in mind you can do it yourself for free until whatever date Microsoft decides otherwise.
Don’t wait until the last minute. The months of October and November will be overwhelming for the Microsoft servers, all computer service company’s and techs. Will be a week or more lead time for the upgrade.
As stated above, you can do the upgrade yourself at no cost for a few months yet. If it installs with no issues that’s great. However, there are several conditions where the update will fail or tell you the machine cannot run Windows 11. There is a possibility of losing all picture and documents. We will Not be offering phone support for self-upgrade. Way too many things can go wrong. We are now offering Windows 11 upgrade in our shop. To include new Windows 11 operating system, and transfer of pictures and documents. Special customer software (office, photo-shop, etc.) and anything concerning Email, printer issues or printer setup will be priced extra. In most cases the Windows 11 upgrade can be completed for under one hundred dollars. Extras priced if needed. Call or message for appointment. This is a limited time offer due to Microsoft fees. If you get a dim black screen when you start a Windows 10 machine, do not panic and force a shut down. It is finishing an update. It make take a while. If you force a shutdown by holding down the start button it may crash. So if you see a black screen let it go for a while. (could be up to 3 hours in some cases)

Their proprietary software has become too expensive and difficult to obtain unless you are a Google or Apple dealer. We also will not do business with Google.

I can not stress enough. KEEP GOOD PASSWORD RECORDS!!! It will save you a lot of trouble at some point. Write them down and put them in a file. (not on your computer)

There are a lot of myths in the computer world. One myth is Android phones, pads, and Apple (mac) products can not get a virus. This is untrue and used as a sales tool by many. Although these products are less susceptible than PC’s to virus activity they are still vulnerable. You can not install anti-virus software on a Chrome Book, however they are still vulnerable to be hijacked. Your Windows product can be as safe as possible with good anti-virus software. Keep in mind there is no 100% safe electronic device unless you do not turn it on. There are thousands of crooks working everyday to find new ways to steal your information on all electronic devices. Do some research and find a reputable anti-virus software for your product.

There are way too many internet scams out there today. If you are a victim don't be ashamed. There crooks are very good at what they do. Please got to this web site and file a complaint. There is a good chance you will get your money back. www.ic3.gov

Very often we see computers with documents, pictures, and videos files stored on the desktop page. Microsoft designed the desktop page to hold Icons Only. This is not a storage folder. The whole desktop icon idea was designed to give you shortcuts to storage folders and apps. Example: Your documents belong in the document folder, your pictures belong in the picture folder, and so on.
There are several downsides to storing files on your desktop. Here are the main ones.

1) Storing large amounts of file on the desktop will slow down your computer.
Many times we have seen this cause freeze-ups and other performance issues

2) In the event of a need for a system restore these files will be lost.

3) In the event of a system crash these files will be very difficult or impossible to
retrieve.

4) These files can be easily seen by others standing near.

5) These files are easier to see by other network computers.

6) These files are easier to see by hackers.
Avoid using the desktop as a temporary folder with the intent of moving them to the proper place later. Most often they never get moved. Without going into detail there are some files that can be stored on the desktop
However there is no quick answer to the files that can be. It is best not to store any. Shortcuts can be created for frequently used files or folders. However if you are not sure how this is accomplished do not try it. You run the risk of loosing or damaging the files. Again there is no quick answer on the ways to do this. We will Not attempt this over the phone. One wrong click and Bye Bye files.
