I am looking for rescue assistance or a courtesy rehoming post for a healthy 16-year-old female senior cat currently located in York, PA. She came into my care 10 months ago after my mother passed away.
She is fully spayed and front-paw declawed. Her senior blood work was recently completed and came back perfectly normal and healthy.
She is a true "spirit cat"—she has always been very timid, independent, and fearful of sudden movements or being held. Because I have other pets, she has spent the last 10 months living peacefully in a single spare bedroom. She is perfectly content with this setup, handles her litter box flawlessly, and thrives in a predictable environment where she is left to her own devices.
Due to my own pets, this room setup cannot be a permanent solution. I am willing to continue safely housing her in her room while we look for a match, but I desperately need help finding her a quiet, adult-only retirement home or a dedicated foster who specializes in very shy senior cats.

I named her Olenna. She never stops purring ❤️

Today I said goodbye to my sweetest smallest angel Boo. We were just past 2 years since her Feline Leukemia diagnosis and she was headed downhill quickly. I am so sad that she never found a real home, and that she didn't make it long enough to see the catio built. But she was always happy, always loved, and always surrounded by friends. I wonder if they'll miss her as much as I already do.

The fluffiest couch potato

This weekend was filled with firsts for Sadie: the first time Chick joined her on the couch, the first time she barked (two quick woofs at the exceedingly noisy roofers next door), and the first time her fear got the best of her. During what we hoped would be her adoption, Sadie bit the kind folks who wanted to take her home. No marks left, no skin broken, but a clear sign that I had misread her anxieties and put her in a scary situation. After just 3 weeks, she is comfortable and trusting with me, but has not yet recovered from the traumatic years she suffered before arriving here. She's never given me a reason to predict this reaction, but in hindsight we should have tried a meet-and-greet on neutral ground.

Sadie is a GREAT dog. She is sweet and loving and her goofy personality is starting to show. She is great with the cats, very house trained, very easy to love and care for. But she has been through a lot, and she needs someone who not only understands that but can also commit to providing her with the ongoing care she needs to overcome her rough start in life. I'm going to start asking friends to come over and sit with her (she's already snuggled and kissed my boyfriend at their first meeting, someone explain that to me...) to show her that people can be kind and she doesn't need to be defensive. I have been helping an elderly man care for his cats and dogs in his home for several years now. He was like a grandfather to me. He passed away last month and had 3 cats left that his son hasn’t been able to find homes for. He left on Friday to go back home out of state and left the cats here. Called me a few hours after leaving and was like oh I forgot about the cats and wanted me to go pick them up and take them to the clinic where I work and have them put to sleep. I wanted to try a few more things to hopefully find them homes before they will have to be euthanized. Is there anyway your organization could assist in re homing them? I can make arrangements to bring to you and or foster for a short while if needed. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Cats are all spayed and neutered. Ages range from 9-13 years old.

The age on his kennel card reads 8. But his body tells a different story.

Dusty can often be found looking just like this, sound asleep in his kennel.

It takes a very loud voice and multiple attempts to wake him from his slumber.

When he does awake, he's slow to rise as his aching bones and joints warm up.

He loves to walk and to be outside, but those walks require a lot of time, his steps are no longer quick. Instead, they are replaced by a great deal of effort.

The truth is, Dusty is breaking our hearts.

Seniors in shelters hold a special kind of sadness. Their lives before may not have been as wonderful as we'd like, and while this may be a comfier resting place, their days are numbered. We hate seeing the clock tick down on the days left that could be spent in a home.

We know there are special people out there who welcome seniors into their hearts..and homes.

We are desperately pleading for one of them to choose Dusty.

He's been here since May. That's long enough.
