Summer camp has officially started here at Calvin Center and we’re having so much fun! Campers have spent the week learning how to care for our horses, doing lots of trivia, and learning a pattern to ride the horses through!

The start of our Calvin Center work day!! Our amazing volunteers are prioritizing cleaning up trees around the center and building run in shelters for our equine super heroes!!

Camp Calvin 2026 is on the horizon. We are just a few short months away from staff training and our first week of camp kicking off on May 31st.

Last summer, Chaplain Madison led an activity which ended with the reminder to all of us that we are beloved children of God. This summer, our curriculum is "valYOUble." It is a refrain that speaks about how God places us in the world. It isn't random. We are here to be the light of Christ in the world. Our hands and feet are the hands and feet of the risen Christ. Because of each one of us, we are able to love others and faithfully serve in a manner that can begin to change the world. Come and experience how you can be a valYOUble part of God's kingdom!

More than a decade in, Horses & Warriors has become more than a program. It is a place where veterans come each week to rebuild, not just skills, but identity, purpose and connection.

"These changes can be very dramatic," co-founder Sara Reams said. "We have people who come in afraid of horses, and by the end of their first visit, they are smiling and want to come back."

For some, it goes deeper. One veteran told organizers he does not even need his service dog when he is there.
