Stan Tekiela who is a great friend that lives in MN has added a live stream to a pair of Horned Owls that have nested in a nest Stan built. Check it out for a relaxing time watching them go about their nesting duties. As I look at it now she is sitting tight on her eggs and covered in snow! Such dedication. Jim

I hope everyone is safe and sound watching the snow and hopefully their nice and full feeders! I personally love these storms especially when they are on a Sunday when most people don't have to commute!!!
All our critters are eating like crazy and so relaxing to sit and watch them!

National Squirrel Appreciation Day is celebrated annually on January 21st to recognize these bushy-tailed critters and their role in nature. This day was founded in 2001 by North Carolina wildlife rehabilitator Christy Hargrove to foster appreciation for squirrels and highlight their environmental importance while also encouraging people to provide food & water to them.

Many of our customers have differing feelings when it comes to squirrels, but we've learned over the years once you get your bird feeders setup so they can't feed from them the feelings turn more to just appreciating. We love to take care of our squirrels just like all of our bird friends and you can see from these pics how well they are treated at Ryan's house in Guilford. Also had to include a great action shot that Ryan captured of a Red Squirrel over in Scotland from our September trip.
