I volunteered at field day last week, then snuck over to Nutter's Ice Cream on the way home — no kids, no sharing, just five $20 gift cards and a cone for the road.

The bad news: the gift cards not for me.

The good news: they could be for you.

Every week we get the opportunity to work with people who bet on themselves and built something. This week alone we had the privilege of helping an engineering firm, car wash, cleaning company, auto repair shop, and a few others.

All different. All deserving of a trusted agent relationship.

That's the work we show up for, and that lights us up. Happy Small Business Week.

I got talked into buying the team lunch today.

Apparently when Taco Tuesday and Cinco de Mayo land on the same day, it’s a pretty big deal. I bought into it.

We ordered. Food showed up. Everyone was happy.

Only one person got a taco as part of a combo. Essentially, half a taco. That's our participation rate...

I got got today by the office.

Referrals mean the world to us. It helps us grow, but also show that we are making an impact with our clients.

So a while back, we decided to make that mean something beyond just business.

Each quarter, for every referral we quote, we set aside a donation to a local organization.

For the first part of this year, we chose Habitat for Humanity- Washington County, MD.

We are happy to be involved with Habitat, and see the difference they make in our community.

Our team also had the chance to be involved in their Project Playhouse event last year, which is another great way to get involved with them and the community.

A few weeks ago I was invited to be part of a panel at Hagerstown Community College talking with students about life after graduation.

Not a boring insurance presentation or a recruiting pitch, just a group of local leaders sharing how we got started, what we’ve learned, and a few things we’d probably do differently.

If there’s one common thread, it’s this: nobody really has it all mapped out. You figure it out as you go.

That’s a big part of why I enjoy what we do here. We get to work with people at all different stages—starting out, changing direction, building something new, etc.

It was a good reminder that “figuring it out” is part of the process, not something you’re supposed to have done before you start.

Glad to be part of it.

Tonight crowns a national champion for March Madness.

We already crowned ours. Turns out we can call the game early when everyone else has a busted bracket...

Amanda officially takes the win this year, which means Amber is handing over the trophy (with at least a little reluctance).

We’ll stick to insurance, it's clearly more our strength.

We are beyond grateful to announce that for the second year in a row, we have been voted Best of the Tristate! 🏆🏆

Winning once is special. Winning twice proves that the people we serve actually trust us, and that's what we're in this business for.

I was at the Home Show today at HCC volunteering at a booth.

Lots of great local vendors and plenty of ideas for homeowners and future homeowners.
