Goodmorning artists! I wanted to share another example for the class tomorrow along with some colored pencil tips in case you are unable to make it.
This cornucopia creation is made 95% colored pencil and 5% marker. The great thing about colored pencils is the possibilities with opacity, texture, and layering.
The first tip I want to share is when you are coloring try to go in one direction. For example, in the blue sky I chose to only color up and down, this allows and cleaner solid surface.
The second tip is to color in layers depending on how saturated you want the color. For example, in the pumpkins the bright orange I used many layers so it was bright and solid. For the brownish shading I only used one or two layers to allow the look of texture and shades.
My final tip is when using markers for details or outlines use slightly different shades from the colored pencil in that area. For example, in the corn I used a bright yellow for the colored pencil and a deeper yellow for the marker outlines. The creates a more defined shape.
Thank you so much for reading through my tips and I can’t wait to see what creations are made tomorrow! 🦃🌻🎃
