🎭 CALL FOR DIRECTORS!
The Ritz Theatre Company is seeking directors for our upcoming One-Act Play Festival, happening Friday, August 28th and Saturday, August 29th, 2026.
The festival is part of the Ritz’s New Works Initiative, the purpose of which is to help playwrights develop, workshop, and ultimately produce new works of all types here on our stages. This year, the focus of the festival is full-length one-act comedies, with a run time of roughly 25-45 minutes.
We are seeking directors to stage these plays in the festival as full productions, with basic costumes, props, lighting, and sound as needed. Each play is encouraged to rehearse off-site, but rehearsal times at The Ritz will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Each director may cast the play themselves, but a list of interested local actors will be provided upon request. Each play is guaranteed ONE performance on either Friday night at 8pm or Saturday afternoon at 2pm, with the plays selected as finalists being performed again at the culmination of the festival on Saturday, August 29th at 8:00pm. There is also one mandatory tech rehearsal at The Ritz on either Wednesday, August 26th or Thursday, August 27th. Please note that there is no stipend available for festival directors and/or actors.
Interested directors should send their resume and any conflicts to [email protected] no later than Sunday, June 21st. Please send any questions you may have to the email above as well. Thank you! 🎭
