We are saddened to learn of the passing of the former Chief of Van Alstyne FD, Chief Lewis. Chief Lewis was the Chief of Van Alstyne when I first joined Gunter FD. I consider it an honor to have worked with Chief Lewis on many scenes. Thank you for your years of service Chief. Rest easy.

It is with heavy hearts that we learned of the passing of former Van Alstyne Fire Chief Robert Lewis.
Chief Lewis dedicated many years of his life to serving the Van Alstyne community. His leadership, commitment, and passion for helping others left a lasting mark on both the fire department and the city he proudly served. He was well known and respected throughout the community, and his contributions helped shape the department for generations to come.
We are proud to honor the legacy Chief Lewis left behind and the contributions he made to this department and community. His years of service, leadership, and dedication to Van Alstyne remain an important part of our department's history and a lasting example of selfless service.
Rest easy, Chief. Thank you for your service, your leadership, and your commitment to this community. Your legacy will not be forgotten.

Want to know what makes Gunter so great? The people!

Gunter FD was toned out for lawn mower fire earlier this evening. The crew made a quick job of the extinguishment. While the engine crew was repacking the hose onto the engine, a neighbor rides up on his lawn mower and gives it to the gentleman that had just lost his mower so that he could finish mowing.

While it was not a huge thing for the neighbor to loan out his mower to his neighbor, it was a huge thing to the man that had just lost his mower! Its the simple little things that makes Gunter a pretty special place to live!

Gunter FD had a lot of fun at the Gunter Library Heroes Splash Day! We were there with Allegiance Mobile Health and Gunter Police Department to make sure the kids had plenty of fun and got plenty wet!

Gunter Fire Department would like to thank the Gunter Valley Church of Christ. Several members of the department, along with Allegiance Mobile Health, were able to participate in a pre-planning exercise in the new building and then head over to the older building for some great training before its torn down. Continuous training is important to keep their skills up but having different types of scenarios, such as a Church, is a great opportunity!
