Yep, This is EXACTLY how 99% of kids think!
HEY DANCERS, HOW WELL DO YOU KNOW YOUR MUSIC?
The importance of knowing your music when it comes to Dance Competitions!
Musicality is a huge deal in dance competitions! It’s not just about hitting the steps; it’s about truly knowing the music and letting it guide your movement. Think of it this way: a dancer who understands and expresses the nuances of the music can tell a much richer story and connect with the audience and judges on a deeper level.
Here’s why it’s so important:
Emotional Connection: Understanding the music allows dancers to show their emotions and the meaning of the song more effectively. It’s what differentiates a technical ex*****on from a captivating performance.
Dynamic Range: Musicality helps dancers vary their movement quality, speed, and energy in response to the music’s changes. This creates a more interesting and engaging performance.
Interpretation and Originality: A dancer with strong musicality can interpret the music in their own unique ways, adding their personal flair and making the choreography their own.
Synchronization and Timing: Beyond just being “on beat,” musicality involves responding to accents, phrasing, and the overall rhythm, making the dance look cohesive and polished.
Impact on Scoring: Judges often look for musicality as a key component of artistry and performance quality. It contributes significantly to how a routine is perceived and scored.
It’s really about becoming one with the music, the better you understand the meaning of your music, the more it will flow through you and into your dance.
Thank you for your time.

Don't forget to clean those mats! Obviously we need to clean our class mats much more often, but cleaning home mats is just as important.
Use a good disinfectant spray and use it liberally. Carpet mats can hold everything your kids bring in from school and outside.
Your mats are designed to keep your kids safe, clean mats will help keep them healthy.

Our Motto!
The importance of a balance between Strength and Flexibility in Dance. Here is a simple explanation.
Think of your body like a car.
* Flexibility is how far the steering wheel can turn.
* Strength is the engine and the brakes.
* Balance: If you have a Ferrari engine (strength) but the steering wheel is locked (stiffness), you will crash. If you have a steering wheel that turns 360 degrees (flexibility) but no brakes (strength), you will spin out of control.
The Importance of
Balancing Strength and Flexibility.
Balancing strength and flexibility are crucial, especially in fields like dance, gymnastics and martial arts where both attributes are essential for best performance. Here are some key reasons why keeping this balance is important:
Enhanced Performance: Strength provides the power needed for jumps, lifts, and dynamic movements, while flexibility allows for a greater range of motion and fluidity. Together, they enable athletes to perform complex routines with precision and grace.
Injury Prevention: Strong muscles support joints and reduce the risk of strains and sprains. Flexibility helps prevent injuries by allowing muscles and joints to move through their full range of motion without restriction.
Improved Alignment and Posture: Strengthening core muscles and keeping flexibility in the spine and limbs help dancers achieve proper alignment and posture, which are critical for executing movements correctly and efficiently.
Increased Endurance: A balance of strength and flexibility contributes to overall stamina. Strong muscles can sustain prolonged activity, while flexible muscles recover more quickly from exertion.
Aesthetic Appeal: In dance and gymnastics, the combination of strength and flexibility enhances the visual appeal of movements. It allows dancers to create clean lines, hold poses, and transition smoothly between steps.
Functional Movement: Beyond athletics, a balance of strength and flexibility is important for everyday activities. It ensures that the body can move efficiently and effectively, reducing the risk of chronic pain and mobility issues.
If you have ever attended one of my Private Lessons or workshops, I am positive I have mentioned the importance of your strength and flexibility. If I could do a “Word Count” on my coaching career, Strength and Flexibility would rank in the top five.
