A ribbon cutting was held June 11 in celebration of the completion of the makeover of Ramona Garden Park.
"Ramona Garden Park is at the heart of Grover Beach's community life," said Grover Beach Mayor Kassi Dee in a news release. "This major investment reflects our commitment to creating accessible and vibrant spaces where families can connect and thrive. We are incredibly proud to deliver a park that will expand recreational options for generations to come.”
Improvements include an accessible playground for children of all abilities, new landscaping, upgraded bathrooms, ADA pathways and a modern amphitheater with a bandshell.
The Grover Beach Community Library runs adjacent to an area of the park.
"We are thrilled with the way it turned out," Library officials said. "It is a beautiful park, and a perfect spot to read a good book."
City and county officials and members of the community turned out for the festivities that could be in the running for the longest ribbon in ribbon cutting history.
Funding for the project was powered primarily by a $3.3 million Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) from the California Department of Housing and Community Development, supplemented by local development impact fees and community fundraising efforts. As the host site for major city traditions like the Summer Concert Series, Ramona Garden Park is a vital economic and cultural engine for the city.

Grab your popcorn, human sized soda and a box of Sno-Caps and have fun with this one.
P.S. Does anyone ever eat Sno-Caps? While you are lingering around in the comment section, drop what your favorite movie concession stand treat is. Assuming you robbed a bank and could afford a snack after buying your ticket.

Did you know Shel Silverstein wrote “A Boy Named Sue” for Johnny Cash before becoming one of the most beloved children’s poets of all time?
Reportedly, Silverstein first debuted the song during a casual music party at Johnny Cash's house. Cash's wife, June Carter Cash, heard it and immediately suggested that Johnny record it. Cash went on to make it a massive, career-defining hit during his famous 1969 live performance at San Quentin State Prison.
What is your favorite Shel book or Johnny Cash song?

Medical Assistant: The doctor will see you now.
Patient: I feel blah, like there is no adventure in my life. I've also been stressed and anxious. Maybe I need a little romance or to try a new hobby.
Doctor: There is this "drug" that has worked throughout the ages. Insurance doesn't cover it, but it is free via the library pharmacy.
