Welcome Home USS Texas (SSN 775)

USS Texas (SSN 775) returned to on May 1st following a regularly scheduled deployment. Texas and crew operate under Submarine Squadron (SUBRON) 12, whose primary mission is to provide attack submarines that are ready, prepared, and committed to meet the unique challenges of undersea combat and deployed operations in unforgiving environments across the globe.

The 26th Virginia-class fast-attack submarine was commissioned at Submarine Base New London on Saturday, April 25th.

The Los Angeles class fast attack submarine USS Albany (SSN 753) is prepared to be guided out of the floating dry dock, Auxiliary Repair Dry Dock (RDM 4), on Thursday, March 26, 2026 at Submarine Base New London in Groton, Conn. Albany, the fifth U.S. Navy ship to be named for the capital city of New York, underwent regularly scheduled maintenance while docked.

Hooyah Deep Sea!
Navy Diver third class Mason Perkins jumps into the icy Thames River at Submarine Base New London in Groton, Conn. on Friday, February 6th to start repair work on a fast attack submarine. Petty Officer Perkins is assigned to the Dive Locker at Naval Submarine Support Facility (NSSF) New London whose mission is to keep Groton based submarines in the fight.

Fair Winds and Following Seas!

USS Newport News (SSN 750) transits the Thames River for the final time after departing Naval Submarine Base New London on Friday, January 16th. The Los Angeles class submarine, commissioned in 1989, left to begin the decommissioning process.

The future USS Idaho (SSN 799) pulls into Submarine Base New London in Groton, Conn. for the first time on Monday, December 15, 2025. When commissioned in the spring Idaho will be the 26th Virginia class attack submarine and fifth U.S. Navy ship to be named for the Gem State.

A flag retirement ceremony was held on Thursday, September 11th at Historic Ship Nautilus & Submarine Force Museum.
The ceremony was led by the Chief Petty Officers and prospective Chief Petty Officers of the Groton Area Chief Petty Officers Association and marked the 24th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
